Grange Minerals Sdn. Bhd., a wholly owned Malaysian subsidiary of Grange Resources, earned a 51% equity in the Bukit Ibam iron ore project, by funding mine development work. Bukit Ibam is located in Pahang State, Malaysia. The mine operated in the late 1960s and produced approximately 22 million tonnes of iron ore before its closure in 1970.
In 2006 a simple processing plant was constructed and earthworks were undertaken to clean up the old open pit in preparation for mining. A programme of mapping and sample drilling has outlined massive magnetite mineralisation on the 70 and 80m levels and mining has produced small tonnages for sale to the local consumers. It is planned to continue with limited production of high grade magnetite ore whilst more drilling is undertaken and further process plant modifications are considered.
